‘Canyons’ director says Lindsay Lohan is like Marilyn Monroe

You read that right. Director of The Canyons Paul Schrader actually compared Lindsay Lohan to Marilyn Monroe. No, I am not kidding.

Writes Schrader

“While preparing and directing The Canyons I was reading James Goode’s book The Making of the Misfits, and I was struck by the similarities between Marilyn Monroe and the actress I was working with, Lindsay Lohan.”

“Similarities? Tardiness, unpredictability, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama—yes, all that, but something more, that thing that keeps you watching someone on screen, that thing you can’t take your eyes off of, that magic, that mystery.”

“Monroe and Lohan exist in the space between actors and celebrities, people whose professional and personal performances are more or less indistinguishable.”

Well, this glowing review will certainly help LiLo see the error of her past ways and start to fly right in her post-rehab life, I’m sure. If only those pesky police and judges would leave her alone she’d certainly be a superstar of epic proportions.

What on Earth could Lohan have done to make the director of The Canyons (new trailer here) compare her to the woman she is always comparing herself to? What could she have done…?
