Howard University Students Take Powerful Ferguson Pic at Freshman Move-In Day

Yesterday was freshman move-in/orientation day at Howard University in Washington D.C. Gathered for freshman orientation, students at the historically black college posed for a power picture in response to the escalating racial tensions in Ferguson, Missouri. The “Hands up, don’t shoot” pic is a direct response to police killing unarmed teenager Mike Brown, who, according to an account, was walking away from a police car when he was fired upon.

The Instagram pic reads: “Howard University takes a stand for justice! #BisonNation #DontShoot #HU,” the Instagram post says as hundreds of students put their hands in the air.

This was the scene in Ferguson last night, in case you missed it.
