A man in Kansas just experienced the thrill of a lifetime.

Money won is twice as sweet as money earned, and ‘Steven L.’ felt the highest of those highs when he spiked a Royal Flush on the flop while playing Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker at the Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Kansas.

The Prairie Band Casino & Resort announced the massive jackpot on social media this week with a picture of ‘Steven L’ holding a massive check for $1,018,643.

The reason he made over a million dollars on this one hand is because of the Ultimate Texas Hold’em Poker progressive jackpot. He placed a $5 bet on the progressive jackpot and everything that happened next was pure magic.

According to KSNT news, Steven L’s hole cards were the King and Jack of Hearts. The flop then came out with the Ace of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, and 10 of Hearts.

The progressive jackpot was up just over $1 million and he made out like a bandit.

The Royal Flush is the rarest hand in Texas Hold’em Poker. Odds of hitting a Royal Flush in Texas Hold’em are 4/2,598,960, or 0.000154% according to Upswing Poker.

But the odds of Steven L’s Royal Flush were even longer as he spiked his on the flop and didn’t need the additional 2 cards from the Turn and River to make his hand.

Player Hits A Royal Flush In Wild Poker Hand

Looking back at the 2022 poker season, this was definitely one of the wildest hands of the year.

Joey Weissman and Michael Wang were squaring off. Wang was a 68% favorite to win the hand pre-flop. The flop didn’t actually bring a ton of help, just one diamond (Kd) and a gut-shot straight draw with the 10 of hearts.

But things kept getting more interesting from there

Joey Weissman went on to win the 343-person event after beating Paul Hoefer heads-up.

He took home $224,236 for first place. And though he won, I’m sitting here imagining a world where he hit a Royal Flush and somehow lost the event. Because in my head, if you get that hand the Poker Gods are basically telling you it’s your day.

Go and win, nothing can stop you.
