The first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One — a prequel to John Krasinski’s pair of A Quiet Place films — has been released.

A Quiet Place: Day One stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o in the lead role alongside Stranger Things 4 breakout Joseph Quinn and veteran Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou. Alex Wolff and Denis O’Hare are also part of the cast.

A Quiet Place: Day One does not have an extensive synopsis at this time, it does have the brief and tantalizing tagline: “Experience the day the world went quiet.”

A Quiet Place: Day One is directed by Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind the excellent 2021 Nicolas Cage-starring movie Pig, which massively helped revitalize the Academy Award winner’s career.

The original A Quiet Place was released in 2018 and marked Krasinski’s directorial debut. Made for just $17 million and starring himself and his real-life wife Emily Blunt, the film went on to be critically acclaimed and grossed over $340 million at the global box office.

Here is the official synopsis for 2018’s A Quiet Place:

If they hear you, they hunt you. In this terrifyingly suspenseful thriller, a family must navigate their lives in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) Abbott are determined to find a way to protect their children at all costs while they desperately search for a way to fight back.

The sequel, A Quiet Place Part II was then released in 2021 and was equally well-received, while also making over $297 million at the global box office (this was also during the COVID-era of movie-going, so those numbers are quite depressed).
