Rumor Has It A Third ‘Ace Ventura’ Film Is In The Works

In today’s age of endless sequels and reboots, there is quite literally nothing out there that is safe from the remake treatment.

Whether it be action franchises like Star Wars or family films like The Lion King or comedies like Ghostbusters, beloved properties from decades past are being retooled for the modern-day audience. And frankly, it’s hard to blame the Hollywood powers that be, as more times than not, the reboot formula works to aplomb.

So it should come as no surprise that, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman — a scooper who has a history of having his finger on the pulse of major Hollywood franchises — there are rumors of a third Ace Ventura film being in the works.

The tweet from Richtman comes just days after We Got This Covered reported on a similar rumor, claiming that their sources told them that Morgan Creek Productions, the original film’s production company, and Warner Bros., the film’s distributor, are in the “early stages of development” on Ace Ventura 3. At this time, there is no word on whether or not Carrey is attached to star, although, it’s hard to imagine they move forward with the project without its star.

After largely walking away from the spotlight for a majority of the last decade, Carrey has begun to re-establish himself in recent years, as the two-time Golden Globe-winning starred in the critically-acclaimed Showtime series Kidding in 2018 and will star as Dr. Robotnick in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film in 2020.
