Gen X and Millenial comedy legend Adam Sandler had a new movie hit Netflix last week and you probably haven’t heard of it. That’s because it’s called You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah and stars his daughter Sadie and Sunny Sandler in their first major lead roles.

Sandler, of course, not only produced the film for his daughters through his Happy Madison Productions company, but he also stars in the film as Danny Friedman, the father of the two main characters.

Ironically, because the majority of Sandler’s work has never been made with the critics in mind, You Are So Night Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is actually his highest-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, as it currently has a 96% critics score. It should be noted, however, that the film also has a 66% audience score, which is a pretty stark disparity.

Some of Sandler’s other highest-rated movies are Hustle (which was released last year), The Meyerowitz Stories, Uncut Gems, and Punch-Drunk Love.

Here is the official synopsis for You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, via Netflix:

Stacy and Lydia are BFFs who’ve always dreamed about having epic bat mitzvahs. But things start to go comically awry when a popular boy and middle school drama threatens their friendship and their rite of passage.

In addition to Sandler, his wife, and their two daughters, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah also stars Samantha Lorraine, Idina Menzel, Dylan Hoffman, Sarah Sherman, Dan Bulla, Ido Mosseri, Jackie Hoffman, and Luis Guzmán.

Later this year, Sandler will also be starring in Netflix’s animated comedy Leo. Then, in 2024, he’ll be starring alongside Paul Dano and Carey Mulligan in the sci-fi drama Spaceman, which is also a Netflix production.

There have also been reports that he’s working on another film with the Safdie Brothers, the directors of Uncut Gems, which, as mentioned above, is one of the most acclaimed roles of his decades-long career.
