Davante Adams Says He Forced His Way Out Of Green Bay Without Realizing How Good Jordan Love Was

The season before Aaron Rodgers forced his way out of Green Bay, his star wide receiver Davante Adams did the same, as the Packers traded him to the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Packers sent Adams to the Raiders in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, while Adams signed a five-year, $141M deal contract with Las Vegas immediately after being traded.

During a recent podcast appearance, Adams — who hasn’t made the playoffs in the two seasons since he left Green Bay — claimed that while he doesn’t regret the trade, he also didn’t realize how good Jordan Love was going to become.

“At the time when I was (in Green Bay), I hadn’t necessarily seen enough to say this is for sure what I should do. But in hindsight, like we talked about, the kid is a f—— baller, man. I’m so happy for him,” Adams said on The Rush podcast, which is hosted by his Raiders teammate Maxx Crosby.

“I haven’t really had a chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point like, ‘I definitely don’t regret changing [teams], but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there’s a way I could pull you over here [to Las Vegas] and drag you with me like that, that would’ve been cool, too.'”

Despite how much Adams says he doesn’t regret moving to Las Vegas, his behavior in recent years suggests otherwise, as he previously said things to the media like “I don’t got time to wait around” and that he came to the Raiders to play with Derek Carr, who is now in New Orleans. Multiple teams also inquired about Adams at the trade deadline.

Heading into the 2024 season, Adams faces the prospect of catching passes from neither Rodgers, Carr, nor Love, as the Raiders quarterback room currently consists of Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, Anthony Brown Jr., and rookie Carter Bradley.
