New York Jets Reportedly Missed Out On Three Star Wide Receivers At Trade Deadline

The New York Jets reportedly went star hunting at the wide receiver position prior to the NFL trade deadline.

Unfortunately for Jets fans, the team came up empty-handed.

That means that Aaron Rodgers, if he does in fact come back, will have to make due with Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard as New York hopes to make a playoff push.

New York Jets Struck Out In Trade Deadline Talks For Star Receivers

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Jets pursued not one, not two, but three superstar wideouts.

Rapoport stated Wednesday on The Insiders that New York worked the phones in the lead-up to Tuesday’s trade deadline hoping to add a star pass catcher to the equation.

He claims that the Jets checked on the availability of three huge names: Raiders receiver Davante Adams, Buccaneers pass-catcher Mike Evans and Bengals wideout Tee Higgins.

However, none of the three were made available by their respective teams.

Adams was the biggest name on the list. But all three of Adams, Higgins and Evans starred for their respective teams in 2022.

Both Adams and Evans have impressed yet again in 2023. Though Higgins has struggled to get going for the Bengals team that just seems to be hitting its stride.

The former second-round pick out of Clemson has just 19 catches for 218 yards and two touchdowns through six games played thus far this season.

Higgins is also playing on the final year of his rookie contract and is reportedly nowhere close to agreeing to an extension with the team.

The Jets, meanwhile, must soldier on without any of the three. Now we wait and see whether that comes back to bite them.
