A South Carolina woman tried Chick-fil-A's new Chicken & Waffles Sandwich. Here's what she thought and whether viewers agreed.
When trying a new menu item at a chain, most people hope to be pleasantly surprised. South Carolina content creator Nicole King (@nicoleking__) was anything but when she went to try the new chicken and waffle sandwich from Chick-fil-A.
What Is The New Chick-Fil-A Sandwich?
Chick-fil-A unveiled a brand-new menu item, the Chicken & Waffles sandwich. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, it is the first time Chick-fil-A has added waffles to the menu in its 80-year history.
Notably, the sandwich is available as both a breakfast menu item and a lunch-and-dinner entrée. The breakfast option is available for $6.19, according to Food Republic. The larger entrée option is available after 10:30am and costs around $9.49. Prices, however, vary depending on location.
Additionally, customers can order a spicy filet for an upcharge. Food Republic reports that the spicy Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich costs $6.39. The spicy version of the entrée costs $9.89.
A Review
According to King’s review, the sandwich was dry and flavorless, leaving lots of room for improvement.
“ Even with the syrup, it was the driest thing I’d ever eaten before,” she says. “There just wasn’t a whole lot of flavor going on. It was just really disappointing, like it just didn’t do much for me.”
King even says that she didn’t finish the sandwich because she got “bored eating it.”
By contrast, Eat This, Not That praised the sandwich, describing it as “plump” and “elevated.” Writer Leah Groth said, “This is a sandwich you need to try at least once. I doubt you will order it on every visit, because it is quite indulgent, but it is a definite culinary experience you should have.”
The Sandwich Is Divisive
Some of King’s commenters agreed with her take. Others, however, said they enjoyed the new menu item.
Those who disliked the sandwich said that the cost was steep.
“No i literally agree,” one viewer said. “Like what is this and why is it almost $9?”
But another commenter said they enjoyed their meal.
“It’s amazing! i get the spicy filet on mine. the shake however not worth it,” they added.
Overall, King’s audience didn’t seem to come to a consensus. Time will tell if the new menu item ends up making an impact.
