Adria Arjona Opened Up About Her ‘Man Of Tomorrow’ Role After We Nearly Broke Her Brain With Our Question – INTERVIEW

Adria Arjona was ALLEGEDLY cast as "Maxima" in 'Man of Tomorrow'


Earlier this summer, rapidly rising A-list actress Adria Arjona was cast as the obscure DC character Maxima in James Gunn’s Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. Unfortunately for Arjona and her press duties over the course of the next year, however, no one is buying.

Since Adria Arjona was announced to have landed the role of “Maxima” in Man of Tomorrow, fans have been speculating that the report is just a cover for her actual role: Wonder Woman.

For starters, James Gunn himself said in 2025 that Arjona — whom he cast in her first movie, The Belko Experiment — would make a “great” Wonder Woman.

Then there’s the fact that Arjona’s profile has grown far beyond that of someone who’d play Maxima — the 33-year-old Hit Man and Andor star is simply too in-demand to burn her big superhero role on such a character; both from her perspective and the studio’s.

Thus, Arjona faces months of having to answer — or more aptly, dodge — likely endless questions about playing the most iconic female superhero of all time.

Eric Italiano, BroBible: As I read up on you and how you see your work, the word “fear” came up a lot. You said the Onslaught script terrified you. You said your part in Splitsville scared you. You once said, quote, “You have to become friends with fear.” What about your role in Man of Tomorrow scares you?

ADRIA ARJONA: Wooooo…

EI: Not bad, right? Not just “who are you playing?”!

AA: “Uh, uh… Um. Trick question, huh?… It scares me. Um, it actually doesn’t— Oh, man. How do I answer this without f—— myself?  A lot of elements of this scare me. But I think for the first time — or for the second time in my life — I’m doing something with people that I already worked with.”

“So ANDOR was the first example. I did ANDOR season one, and I had never done a season two of something. And coming into a season two — I know Tony; we’ve known each other for two and a half years at that point. I know the costume department, I know the actors. S, you come in with people that you feel familiar with, and that you trust, and that make you feel safe.”

“And in this case, for MAN OF TOMORROW — I know James Gunn, and Peter Safran. They gave me my first movie ever, which was THE BELKO EXPERIMENT. That was, I don’t even— like 12 years ago or something like that. So, I’m coming onto a set with familiar faces, with people that I trust and respect, that I’ve known through the years. So — yeah, it scared me. But I think when I got there, I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m good. Because James is here and Peter’s here, and I know them.’ And it just makes you feel safe.”
