Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer who was working on the set of the tragic Alec Baldwin film Rust, is currently on trial, facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering, and evidence shown in the courtroom does not reflect well on Baldwin, who was also indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter.

On October 21, 2021, 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on the set of Rust with a pistol that was being used by Baldwin during filming.

According to reports, outtakes from the film have been submitted as evidence and shown to jurors, and the videos show Baldwin “using his pistol to point as he gave instructions to the crew” while also “shouting” commands such as “One more! One more! One more! Right away! Let’s reload!”.

“Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the film’s 24-year-old armorer, hurried to put more blanks into his gun. Baldwin was visibly impatient. ‘Here we go! C’mon,’ he said. ‘We should have two guns and both we’re reloading.;”

“Bryan Carpenter, a veteran armorer who is serving as the state’s expert witness, testified that a series of behind-the-scenes videos showed numerous lapses in gun safety. Asked if he saw anything wrong with the clip, Carpenter said Baldwin was ‘using the weapon as a pointing stick.’” [via Variety]

The videos will likely also be played at Baldwin’s trial, which is currently set to begin in July. Both Gutierrez-Reed and Baldwin had pleaded not guilty in their respective trials.

David Halls, the first assistant director on Rust, however, said that Baldwin was not “rushing anybody” but rather saw it as “an actor in his moment — ‘I’m ready. OK, let’s go.’”

Since the incident on the set of Rust, Baldwin has appeared in three live-action films, all of which were B-movies: Supercell, 97 Minutes, and Atrabilious. He also had a voice cameo in Todd Field’s 2022 film Tar.
