Alix Earle emerged over the past few years as one of the most popular Gen Z influencers with roughly 9 million followers across TikTok and Instagram. She has also been attached to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios who she was rumored to have cheated on this Summer in The Hamptons, a rumor she addressed for the first time on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper.
A large proportion of Alix Earle‘s followers across TikTok and Instagram are Gen Z. Most of Gen Z is too young to remember how big of a deal the Eliot Spitzer-Ashley Dupré story was back in 2008 when the then-Governor of New York was caught having an illicit affair with an escort known as ‘Client 9’ who was later revealed to be Ashley Dupré.
Part of what made it such a huge deal at the time was Eliot Spitzer was a ‘rising star’ in the political world and someone whose name had been attached to White House ambitions. Then all of that evaporated in an instant when it was revealed Spitzer had slept with Ashley Dupré who was, at the time, an escort.
How are Alix Earle and Ashley Dupré connected?
In recent years, many have learned through social media that Ashley Dupré is Alix Earle’s stepmom. Speaking about it publicly for the first time, Alix Earle revealed how she learned through paparazzi swarming her home that her father had an affair with Ashley Dupré who would later go on to become her stepmom.
Alix spoke about this with Alex Cooper on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast:
She started by saying she’s never talked about this ‘online’ before. Stating that she’s been “waiting for the right platform or moment” to discuss it publicly for the first time.
Alix Earle then said “I remember the day very clearly. Paparazzi had shown up at my house and my mom quickly kind of got me and my sister out of the house over to our cousins. We stayed there for a few days and I had no idea what was going on. I didn’t know they were paparazzi. I thought news broadcasters were interviewing the neighbors.”
Earle went on to say “It was in like fourth grade. I started to kind of hear commentary from people and I had an iPad at the time. I’m Googling my family and all of a sudden, I see that the past two years of my life had been a lie.”
“My world crashed down in that moment”
Alix went on to say “My dad had an affair with someone who was well-known for her job having sexual relations with high-class people and one of them was even the governor of New York. She was very well-known from that and in turn, my dad’s affair became a very public situation.” Adding that when it was all happening, she “felt like my world crashed down in that moment.”
Alix Earle went on to say that she was insulated from the media storm at the time by her mother. Telling Alex Cooper “I didn’t know the severity of what had happened between my parents because my mom was super, super mature about it and didn’t speak to us about it and didn’t put that stress that she was going through onto us. I kind of figured it out myself and then I proceeded to deal with it myself.”
Eventually, her parents separated and Ashley Dupré married Alix Earle’s father in 2013. Initially, it was a massive transition.
Speaking about meeting her stepmom and incorporating her into the family, Alix Earle said “When my stepmom started to hang around with my dad after he had moved out, she came into his life and we were introduced to her, which was super weird. And I was told that I had to be respectful to this woman and we had to be nice to her. I wanted to rip her head off. It was very weird because I felt like I was a 10-year-old having to be more mature than someone 20, 30 years older than me.”
She also went on to say that some parents wouldn’t let their kids come over to her house as rumors spread around. Earle said her mother sat her down to explain “they don’t really respect us.”
Alix Earle also revealed how her father’s affair and marriage to Ashley Dupré once came up in class. Saying “My teacher in high school was talking about this governor’s affair and said exactly what had happened—who it had happened with—and like looked me in the eyes while this was going on in class. I remember my classmates looking at me and like, laughing because this was about my family. And this was something he was literally teaching in history class.”
She said that day she left school crying from embarrassment.
Alix Earle x Braxton Berrios Cheating Rumors
Alix Earle also discussed alleged ‘cheating’. At one point in the Summer, she was accused of hooking up with Braxton Berrios while he was still in a relationship with Sophia Culpo, rumors that he categorically denied.
Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper asked “This past summer, you were getting scrutinized on the internet. People were calling you a mistress, some people were calling you a homewrecker, in regards to the NFL player you were hooking up with. Can you confirm, were you hooking up with him when he was in a relationship?”
Alix Earle responded “It is so triggering to even hear you say that. No. They were not together.”
Case closed.
There was also a round of ‘Truth or Dare’. She revealed that he athlete crush is Travis Kelce despite rumored to be currently dating Braxton Berrios.
