Nothing tastes better than a much-anticipated meal—except maybe luxury goods. At least that’s the bright side the internet sees in one Arizona woman’s Olive Garden delivery.
TikToker @cry.baby.bailee ordered dinner from the Italian eatery. And instead of food, she got a meal for her senses. She explains what happened in a TikTok captioned, “If you’re in the Scottsdale area I think they mixed up my 45 dollar Olive Garden order with your 300 dollar Chanel cologne.”
Yikes.
Happy Accident?
“I just got Olive Garden DoorDashed, and you want to see what arrived instead?” asks the customer. At nearly 1 million views, it seems lots of us are curious.
She pans the camera away from her face and toward a modest MozzArepas box. Once the box is open, she pulls out a small white shopping bag with Chanel emblazoned across the front in gold foil. Inside the bag is a receipt for $297 and a bottle of Bleu de Chanel men’s cologne.
Smells Good Enough To Eat?
According to a Reddit thread dedicated to fragrance, the Bleu scent is widely lauded. “Smooth, universally appealing, fresh, and impeccably clean. It leaves a light, slightly musky, lightly woody scent on skin and clothes long after the obvious top notes fade,” noted one Redditor.
However, more than one person in the TikToker’s comments section is less concerned with a timeless scent and more concerned with dinner time.
“Maybe im [sic] just fat but I’d rather have the olive garden,” one commented.
“I’d be so mad. Like what am I supposed to do with perfume when I wanted breadsticks and alfredo,” another questioned.
In a follow-up video from the TikToker, she answers that very question. She also clarifies that the mishap occurred through Uber Eats, not DoorDash (she just seems to be using them interchangeably).
“So the guy, the DoorDash guy, just came and knocked on the door for the perfume with my Olive Garden order. But the thing is,
I ordered another Olive Garden order because Uber Eats was no help, and he arrived at the exact same time that the guy was knocking on my door with my original Olive Garden order. So I got two now,” she explains.
While Mary Svendrowski (@marysvendrowski) has thinks about the person who got the meal instead of the cologne: “Whoever ordered perfume is pissed eating your breadsticks.”
What To Do When The Wrong Thing Is Delivered To You
In this instance, replacing dinner was a pretty simple solution for a missed meal. Even if, in the end, the TikToker ended up with two entrees. But what about the other guy? What happens if you order something expensive, and it goes to the wrong individual?
Uber Eats’ website addresses this problem specifically. They direct users who get the wrong delivery to reach out to Uber ASAP for a resolution. A resolution is typically a refund, as the site notes that the company “will not be able to replace the order.”
As to how perfume got delivered instead of dinner, Uber offers a courier service for small packages. Surely perfume qualifies.
However, Uber’s courier service has multiple Reddit pages dedicated to undelivered, lost, and stolen items. And most of the alleged stories have the indignant flavor of a wronged customer. There are allegations that there’s no way to contact Uber about an incorrectly received item. “I’m unable to get help or even talk through the app since it is not one of my orders,” wrote u/capitalsfan.
While other users complain of theft: “Driver took my package, didn’t deliver and blocked my ID,” says u/blueberrycrushhh.
So if you’re the unlucky person who’s not getting a resolution for a refund? There’s always the credit card chargeback option. Bypass the service, and go straight to your credit card company for help.
Sure, you might get deactivated from the platform, but are you really going to stick with a company that confuses breadsticks for Bleu de Chanel?
