The first trailer for Luca Guadagnino's 'Artificial' has been released
The first trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s latest film Artificial has been released. Artificial stars two-time Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield as OpenAI founder Sam Altman.
Artificial has been buzzworthy throughout its entire development process, particularly earlier this year when Amazon MGM Studios, who were planning on releasing the film, decided to drop the project not long after signing a $50 billion deal with OpenAI.

Artificial was picked up by acclaimed indie studio Neon, which has previously distributed films such as I, Tonya, Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, The Worst Person in the World, Triangle of Sadness, Anatomy of a Fall, Anora, Longlegs, and more.
Officially dated to hit theaters on Christmas Day, the first trailer for Artificial has been released and has the undeniable tone of a horror movie.
Speaking to BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast earlier this month, Garfield discussed his experience of playing Atlman immediately after filming The Uprising, a film about the 1381 Peasants’ Rebellion in England.
“The first project I shot was the Artificial film, and then I went and shot The Uprising straight after. I’m really, really happy it was in that order, because it felt like playing Ploughman was a direct kind of healing response,” Garfield explained.
“It was interesting. You could say you play an emperor, a modern emperor, and then you play someone who’s at the mercy of the rules and the decisions the emperors are making,” he continued.
“It was the right order. It was fascinating. Absolutely fascinating, and I’m very, very grateful for the experience. And you’re right — they couldn’t be more opposite. They are the polar opposites of our culture right now. I feel very lucky to have felt the disparity of those experiences.”
In addition to Garfield, Artificial boasts a star-studded cast that includes fellow Oscar nominees Yura Borisov (as Ilya Sutskever, the chief scientific officer and co-founder of OpenAI who fires Altman) and Monica Barbaro (Mira Murati, the chief technology officer of OpenAI). Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, and Mark Rylance also have roles in the film, while The Studio star Ike Barinholtz will be playing Elon Musk.
