Comedian Aubrey Plaza is of Puerto Rican descent and is one of the many people speaking out after Tony Hinchliffe‘s controversial comments about Puerto Rico during Donald Trump’s rally last weekend at Madison Square Garden.
Tony Hinchliffe aka ‘Kill Tony’ is under fire for this ‘joke’ on stage at MSG: “There’s a lot going on, like, I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. Yeah. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.” In the wake of that controversial ‘joke,’ Hincliffe is now at risk of losing his DraftKings sponsorship according to the latest reports.
Speaking to a Wall Street Journal audience this week, Aubrey Plaza addressed Tony Hinchliffe’s comments about Puerto Rico head on. In true form, Plaza uses some colorful language so be forewarned:
I have nothing to add to what Aubrey Plaza said here. 👀

Aubrey Plaza started it off by saying “as a Puerto Rican woman, um, I just very quickly wanted to respond” to Tony Hinchliffe’s comments at Donald Trump’s rally. She went on to say that “most of (her) family is from” the island of Puerto Rico and added that “thankfully, my sweet abuelita wasn’t here to hear that disgusting remark” from Kill Tony.
Plaza went on to say “but if she was alive today, I think she would say ‘Tony Hinchcliffe, go f— yourself’ and yes the Wall Street Journal can quote me on that.”
Aubrey Plaza’s comments echo those of other prominent Puerto Ricans like Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio aka ‘Bad Bunny’ who responded to Tony Hinchcliffe’s ‘trash’ comments by releasing a video tribute to the island of Puerto Rico:
And it isn’t just people of one political affiliation condemning Tony Hinchcliffe’s ‘joke’ about Puerto Rico. Florida senator Rick Scott said “This joke bombed for a reason. It’s not funny and it’s not true. Puerto Ricans are amazing people and amazing Americans! I’ve been to the island many times. It’s a beautiful place. Everyone should visit! I will always do whatever I can to help any Puerto Rican in Florida or on the island.“
