Last week, we informed you about the Thanos-themed subreddit that is banning half of their users in a tribute to Avengers: Infinity War. Today, July 9th, is the day of the purge and the Reddit community is getting some big names to usher in the elimination of hundreds of thousands of members.

Only four days ago, the r/thanosdidnothingwrong subreddit had around 350,000 members and now because of the notoriety of the cleansing, the population has grown to nearly 650,000. Encouraging the banning of half the population is the Mad Titan himself, Josh Brolin. The actor who played Thanos in Infinity War starred in a video that approves of the mass obliteration. The video was posted to the subreddit by Joe Russo, half of the directing duo of Infinity War and the upcoming untitled Avengers movie. “Here we go Reddit users,” Brolin says in the video before snapping his finger in the same exact way that Thanos did in the movie that wiped out half the life in the universe.

This means that Russo is a member of r/thanosdidnothingwrong, meaning that one of the men instrumental in bringing Avengers to theaters could very well be banned from the massive Avengers subreddit. But it is also would be a twist of karma if Russo was eliminated in the same way he had half of the population from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was eliminated.

The culling, which could happen at any moment, is said to be random and fair. This is definitely one of the largest mass bannings in the history of Reddit. Good luck not and if you start to not feel so good you know why.
