The Batmobile reportedly ran someone over on the set of the film

Production on Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II was reportedly halted earlier this month after a cast member was run over by the Batmobile while filming an action sequence. The reported incident is one of many that have delayed the release of the sequel to 2022’s The Batman in recent years.

According to a report from British tabloid The Sun, the unnamed cast member was hospitalized following the accident, which occurred on the set of The Batman: Part II sometime in October. The unnamed individual has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

“The Batman films are known for their ambitious scenes but this one went horribly wrong and a cast member ended up being hurt,” a source told The Sun.

“People working on the set said the Batmobile had run someone over. Filming was stopped after the accident.”

The reported accident is just the latest setback in what has been a particularly troubled production for The Batman Part II, which was originally scheduled to hit theaters in October 2025 before being pushed back to October 2026, then October 2027, and ultimately February 2028.

While the identity of the injured cast member has not been revealed, The Sun reports that it contacted the person believed to have been involved in the accident and that they did not deny their involvement. Warner Bros. has not publicly commented on the reported incident, which comes amid an already turbulent production for the Robert Pattinson-starring sequel.

Earlier in October, director Matt Reeves reportedly stepped away from the production temporarily due to personal reasons, with Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh stepping in to help oversee filming in his absence. The production has since resumed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England.

In addition to Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman, The Batman: Part II will feature returning cast members Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

The sequel will also feature several major additions to its cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, and Charles Dance — with the roles of Stan and Henry seemingly revealed via an Instagram video about the making of Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume. The Batman: Part II is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2028.
