Over the past decade or so, the dating world has slowly turned into a minefield of potential disasters like the world has never witnessed.
One would think that with all of this technology right at our finger tips it would somehow have become easier to date.
I mean, back in the day before the internet and smartphone apps, what did people do? Get set up by friends? Meet someone at work? Go to bars? Oh yeah, most people just went to bars. I forgot.
Now, however, you’ve got online dating services coming out the woodwork like Match, eharmony, OKCupid, Plenty of Fish, Coffee Meets Bagel, Tinder, Bumble, Zoosk, Chemistry, Hinge, Happn, Clover, and on, and on, and on.
Plus there are all of those “specialty” dating sites like Equestrian Singles, Gk2Gk, Must Love Pets, Farmers Only, Ivy Date, Veggie Date, Military Cupid, Spiritual Singles, Fitness Singles, Single Parents Meet, Gamer Dating, and Millionaire Match.
Also falling into that latter category of niche online dating sites is one called Beautiful People.
BeautifulPeople.com is an online dating site that very exclusive. In fact, according to the New York Post, the site has turned away around 8.5 million potential members.

Why would any website turn away millions of potential customers and millions in potential revenue?
Because those 8.5 million people were deemed too ugly to use the site.
Calling itself “The Worlds Most Exclusive Dating Site For Beautiful People Only,” BeautifulPeople.com allows singles to be “part of the largest most exclusively beautiful community in the world.”
Their best selling point, which could apply to any online dating site – beautiful people or not – is that they claim by using their service you can “meet REAL beautiful people who actually look in real life as they do online.”
I know from experience how this can be a major problem with dating sites. Profile pictures sometimes can be a little, ummm, misleading.
So how does one go about getting approved as a person beautiful enough to make the cut on BeautifulPeople.com?
According to a recent poll of 3,000 members, these are the top 10 ‘ugliest’ traits that will get you the ban hammer.

6. Crooked, large or otherwise ugly nose
7. Balding or unkempt hair (not specifically styled that way)
8. Bad posture
9. Dirty or long nails or both

43-year-old Managing Director and Founder Greg Hodge says about the lists, “So many of the ugly traits listed are easily fixable, which means potentially there is a bigger market of beautiful people out there hidden behind excess weight, bad teeth or lack of grooming.”
Then again, what does he know? Last year, his BeautifulPeople.com members kicked him to the curb and off the site for not being attractive enough.
“When I couldn’t get voted back on, it was a blow,” said Hodge, so not even the guy who created the site is no longer one of the chosen 750,000 who use it.
All that said, I’m pretty sure I know what online dating site I will now be trying to use. Just to see if I can make the cut. Stay tuned.
