Ben Page is an amateur filmmaker who left his home in the United Kingdom in 2014 after being compelled to take an incredible trip around the world based on author Jack London’s quote that ‘any man who is a man can travel alone’. He spent the next three years circumnavigating the world on a bicycle.

The films of Ben’s travels have been featured at more than 30 international film festivals and The Frozen Road (below) has been nominated for all sorts of travel/adventure film awards. This film, The Frozen Road, depicts the unbelievably harsh conditions of the Canadian Arctic Winter. This film was shot and edited entirely by Ben himself, and it details the last leg of his trip up the American continent during his 3-year trip around the world.

Going into this leg of the trip, Ben had romanticized the idea of a Canadian Winter in his head. Something about the ‘great white north’ seemed alluring, and he had no idea that the harsh realities of a Canadian Arctic Winter are enough to break any spirit:

Ben describes this part of Canada as one of the world’s ‘last great wildernesses’, and while this portion of his trip looked like an absolute hell on earth I think there’s definitely something to be said about trying to see these large, untouched swaths of land while they’re still pristine.
