Earlier in the week, Country Music superstar and co-host of NBC’s’ The Voice, Blake Shelton, was named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by PEOPLE Magazine. Why? That’s the question that a ton of people is pondering. By all objective measures, Blake Shelton is a handsome man but he has that ‘every guy’ appeal. He’s got the All-American physique that’s somewhere in-between ‘used to be an H.S. football all-star’ and ‘on his way to a full-on Dad Bod’.

When Blake Shelton was named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by PEOPLE Magazine a lot of people took to Twitter to express indignation over the nominee. Usually, ‘Celebrities Read Mean Tweets’ is a skit reserved for Jimmy Kimmel Live but Blake Shelton decided to do his own by reading off some tweets in response to him being named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’. Blake then shared this on his own Twitter page:

The past 5 ‘Sexiest Men Alive’ named by PEOPLE Magazine includes Dwayne Johnson, David Beckham, Chris Hemsworth, Adam Levine, and Channing Tatum. It’s unclear if PEOPLE Magazine gave Blake Shelton the award this year because they want to show the rest of America that even mediocre people win awards sometimes, or if there’s been a cultural shift in what America finds ‘sexy’.

I’m not here to judge Blake Shelton. He’s probably a better-looking man than I am, and he’s also probably in better shape. I just think Blake’s a funnier man and better Country Music singer than he is a professionally good looking person. Wouldn’t you agree?
