Here’s a new one. Thieves broke into a a freight truck in Denver last week and walked away with a box of human heads.

According to the Denver Police Department, someone broke into the truck between 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 3rd. They are now asking for the public’s help in locating the missing heads.

The thieves who broke into the truck stole a blue and white box labeled “Exempt Human Specimen” and a dolly. That’s it. That’s what they took.

“Pretty shocking. I guess I don’t see too many strange things happening around here usually, but you know you never know,” area resident Isaac Fields told Fox 21 News. “Wow! I would have been so terrified.”

It is currently unclear whether or not the thieves were aware that the box, which measured 20 x 15 x 18 inches with “Science Care” written on the sides, contained human heads.

Why would someone steal a box of human heads?

“My wife actually does Ph.D. research at the University of Colorado Anschutz,” Fields added. “So cadavers are definitely utilized in certain situations. And I’m assuming that was probably the case.”

Where the truck was going, why it was parked where it was, and who was driving the truck are all questions that have yet to be answered.

The Denver Police Department had only a few days before issued a warning that “vehicle-related crimes such as auto theft and theft from motor vehicle continue to be a problem in Denver.”

Denver police are asking that anyone who come across a discarded box of human heads to contact them immediately. They are also requesting that anyone with information about the stolen heads contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

“At this point, no arrests have been made and investigators are working to gather more information to identify the suspect(s) and recover the stolen items,” said police.
