Brad Pitt says he's drinking again after seven years of sobriety
Brad Pitt has opened up about some of the darkest moments of his recent life in a new interview, including suicidal thoughts and a return to drinking after seven years of sobriety.
During a recent profile interview with Esquire, Brad Pitt said that he’s drinking again after previously staying sober for seven years following his 2016 separation from Angelina Jolie.
Pitt, who had credited Bradley Cooper’s support and over a year of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings with helping him get sober, says he will now have a few glasses of wine with a focus on moderation.
“I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” Pitt said, adding that he’s remains “professional” about it to avoid past issues with overconsumption.

The Academy Award-winning actor also discussed experiencing a period of intense psychological pain tied to what he described as “family stuff” — and when pressed, said only “kid stuff” and “this s— ain’t easy.” He said survival instincts intervened before the thoughts went further and that he otherwise feels like he “won the lottery” in life.
Most of Pitt’s six children with Jolie have either dropped his surname or legally filed to do so, with the latest, 18-year-old Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, doing so back in July.
Pitt will next be starring in Heart of the Beast, which sees him reunite with Fury director David Ayer. Pitt stars in the film as Special Forces officer James Belmont, who is stranded in the Alaskan wilderness alongside his retired combat dog Odin.
