Activision FINALLY pulled the wraps off the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer mode. Developer Infinity Ward promises big things in the updated multiplayer mode and has really hyped the online military shooter with some new and old features.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay premiere was held in Los Angeles today at 1 PM EST. Activision streamed the exciting event on the Call of Duty Twitch channel and kicked off the action with Metallica’s Enter Sandman as the soundtrack.

The trailer for the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare looks tremendous.

Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare start NOW. Pre-sales give gamers early access to the Open Beta game on the 14th, but only on PlayStation 4. Then a few days later on September 21, the Open Beta will begin for all players on all platforms and allow for cross-play gaming.

Returning to Call of Duty multiplayer is killstreaks, not returning is zombies. There will be no Season Pass, which means free content. Headquarters mode, tactical insertions, Juggernauts, and NUKES are back!

You’ll have a wide variety of types of multiplayer modes including the close-quarters 2 vs. 2 Gunfight mode, traditional 6 vs. 6 multiplayer gameplay, 10 vs. 10 and 20 vs. 20 firefights. Then there is the all-new Ground War, an epic battle royale that supports more than 100-players.

Some maps will have exploration Easter eggs that allow you to climb up a building, much like Modern Warfare 2‘s Highrise.

The totally revamped multiplayer mode for the CoD reboot will feature impressive entrances on military vehicles such as helicopters. There are also hyper-realistic in-game watches.

There is a special Dark Edition for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that actually comes with night vision goggles.

Previously to today’s announcement, the only glimpse of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer mode was this video of the new “Gunfight” mode. The 2vs2 mode allows combatants to attack each other in smaller tailor-made maps.

There is also a new Gunsmithing feature that will give you numerous customization options such as Muzzle Break, Balanced Suppressor, Scout Combat Optic, Lightweight Stock, CQB grip, Corp Combat and Holo Sight.

“Gunsmithing is a robust weapon customization option for your two main Loadout weapons: Each Primary and Secondary Weapon can be augmented to give you the precise type and style of firepower you require for any type of multiplayer game mode,” Activision said.
