Canelo Alvarez didn’t seem too happy with his former promoter Oscar De La Hoya seemingly taking a shot at him.
During an interview with Fight Hub’s Marcos Villegas, De La Hoya said Canelo might be regressing as a boxer by fighting a lesser opponent like John Ryder instead of David Benavidez.

“It seems like he’s regressing inside the ring,” said De La Hoya “he’s regressing in terms of picking opponents. He’s fighting all these British fighters, but it does nothing for his legacy. I don’t know whose fault that is.”
During an interview with Behind The Gloves’ Michelle Joy Phelps, Canelo was asked about De La Hoya’s comments and he fired back.
“It don’t make sense to respond to that, Oscar the last year, he act a little crazy, it’s better not to answer that question.’
As for Benavidez, Canelo told Joy-Phelps that if Dmitry Bivol turned down a rematch he would look into fighting him.
