Card B and Megan Thee Stallion have submitted a late entry for the Song of the Summer title after releasing a new music video for ‘Bongos.’

‘Bongos’ is Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s first song and music together since ‘WAP.’ That video has racked up over 510 million views in teh past three years on YouTube alone.

It is hard to compile a clear number of streams/views since the ‘Bongos’ was released at midnight but it has caught like wildfire. The new music video has racked up 2.15 million views on YouTube in 14 hours. Cardi B’s TikTok post has over 1 million views. And all of the views on Instagram/Facebook are hidden but it’s safe to assume there are a few million there as well.

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are sharing pics + videos nonstop on X, formerly known as Twitter. They both shared this photo of them together on the beach during the shoot for this music video.

Megan Thee Stallion shared this behind-the-scenes clip with the camera turned sideways:

In a livestream leading up to the release, Cardi told her fans “(‘Bongos’ is) not really like ‘WAP,’ and the theme … of the photo shoot, we wanted to trick y’all. Because we actually wanted y’all to think it got like, ‘WAP’ element, but it don’t.” Megan Thee Stallion went on to say “I was so happy when I got the song because it doesn’t sound like anything that’s out right now, and I feel like it definitely challenged me to rap in a different way. ‘Cause I never rapped over a beat like this before, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK, she want me to go put my foot in this b—-. OK, I can do that for her. She want me to work for it, OK, here we go.”

Fans Can’t Get Enough Of Bongos by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion

Embracing a ‘dembow’ style of music for this song was perceived as ‘taking a risk‘ but it clearly paid off. Dembow is a Dominican style of music with origins traced back to Jamaican dancehall music.

The fan edits are all over the place:

Ms. Pac Man got a shoutout:

Some of the ‘Bongos’ memes are crossover memes:

They really do work well together and should probably work together more frequently:

Frontrunner to win all of the awards now? Could be…

It can be streamed on Spotify:

The new music video for ‘Bongos’ by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion can be streamed in full on YouTube. Somehow this remix of ‘Bongos’ played over Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ goes just as hard as the new song. So give it a listen as well.
