So far, John Wick: Chapter 4 director Chad Stahelski has only directed the John Wick films (he co-directed the first with his buddy David Leitch and has since helmed the last three solo).

That is, of course, no bad thing, as it puts the 54-year-old stuntman turned filmmaker in the conversation of the greatest action directors of the 21st century.

One day, though, the John Wick franchise — at least the iteration with Keanu Reeves, as the action movie icon is now approaching 60 years old — will end, leaving Stahelski and his talents open for business.

Clearly already looking towards his cinematic future, Stahelski is currently attached to two video game adaptations that are in active development: a Rainbox Six movie with Michael B. Jordan, and a Ghost of Tsushima film, based on the beloved 2020 video game of the same name.

During a recent interview with BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, Stahelski explained how the recent success of The Last of Us will shine a further spotlight on upcoming video game adaptations, and that interest in his Ghost film is growing thanks to the massive success, and quality, of the Pedro Pascal-starring HBO series.

“I hope so [that The Last of Us shines a further light on upcoming video game adaptions],” said Stahelski.

Rainbow Six, Ghost of Tsushima  — I’m working on. Both are fantastic projects that I really hope come to fruition. But Ghost… it’s got an amazing story. It’s the anti-samurai samurai movie. It’s got great thematics. We have a lot of push on that and a lot of interest because Last of Us pushing that, yes, the curse of video game-to-movie is kind of lifted. It can be done. You’ve just got to give it love and attention. And Ghost, of probably all the other video game [movies] in development, I think that’s the one that’s going to land.”

You can check out our full interview with Stahelski below (the Ghosts of Tsushima discussion begins at the 15-minute mark). John Wick: Chapter Four hits theaters on Friday, March 24.
