A devout Cheesecake Factory customer says her Linda’s Fudge Cake slice cost $3 more while appearing smaller.

Twenty minutes. One Cheesecake Factory. One very specific craving. It all seemed worth it until she opened the container and realized her Linda’s Fudge Cake had apparently gone on a diet.

In a viral video, TikTok user Abby (@abby_vet_journey) shows off her slice of Linda’s Fudge Cake and points out what she believes is a noticeable difference in both the price and portion size.

“Cheesecake Factory, we need to talk,” Abby says.

Abby points out that she paid $3 more for her beloved slice of Linda’s Fudge Cake.

“And I understand. That’s OK,” she says. “Things happen; inflation, things are more expensive—that’s not the problem.”

She proceeds to point out that her slice of cake doesn’t fill the container like it once did.

“The problem is that if you’re going to charge me $3, don’t give me less cake,” she says.

As it turns out, she’s not the only one who has noticed that the Cheesecake Factory is apparently cutting corners.

She Drove 20 Minutes For Linda’s Fudge Cake

Abby has built her following on her journey as a veterinarian in Mexico trying to become a vet in America. Yet she’s gone viral for her 20-minute journey to The Cheesecake Factory.

For anyone unfamiliar with the dessert, Linda’s Fudge Cake is one of The Cheesecake Factory’s chocolate-heavy sweets. The restaurant describes it as layers of chocolate cake and fudge frosting. Like The Cheesecake Factory itself, this particular cake has somewhat of a cult following.

It’s the kind of dessert that can justify a special trip for chocolate lovers.

Which is why Abby was so disappointed in her lack of layers that she turned to the internet.

“So you’re telling me I drove 20 minutes for this?” she says in the viral video, pointing to the dessert.

Cheesecake Factory Customers Say Cake Slices Are Getting Smaller

The comments quickly turned into a discussion about portion sizes at The Cheesecake Factory.

Several users agreed with her and claimed they’ve noticed that the restaurant’s individual dessert slices have gotten smaller.

Some commenters said they have stopped ordering individual slices altogether and figured out a hack: buying entire cakes.

The reasoning is simple: If you’re already paying more for less cake, buying a whole cake can feel like a better deal.

One commenter essentially argued that purchasing the full cake allows them to control the portions themselves and ensures they aren’t paying premium prices for a noticeably smaller restaurant slice.

Others shared similar frustrations about shrinkflation, when products become smaller while their prices stay the same or increase.

In this case, customers believe they’re seeing both at once: a smaller slice and a higher price.

Is The Cheesecake Factory Shrinking Its Dessert Portions?

That’s where things get a little murky.

The viral video shows one customer’s slice, but it doesn’t independently establish whether The Cheesecake Factory has officially reduced the size of Linda’s Fudge Cake.

Portion sizes can also vary depending on how a dessert is cut. Still, the video has amassed nearly 1,200 comments, and plenty of them suggest that customers have noticed a broader change.

And that’s what makes the video so relatable.

People aren’t necessarily upset about spending money on dessert. They’re upset when the dessert they receive doesn’t feel like it’s worth what they paid.

For a restaurant known for enormous portions, that perception can be especially noticeable.

The Cheesecake Factory has built part of its reputation around generous servings. Its desserts have also become a major part of the dining experience, with massive slices often becoming leftovers for the next day.

So when a longtime customer opens a container and thinks, “That’s it?” people are going to notice—and post about it.“I’m still going to go but a little more sad,” Abby says in her video.
