Midwest Woman Goes On Date To The Cheesecake Factory, Orders A Well-Done Steak. Then She Puts Him On Blast For Ordering Chicken Tenders And Wanting To Split The Bill

A man invited a woman on a first date to a Midwest Cheesecake Factory. She ordered a steak, thinking he would pay, but quickly realized he had other plans as the meal continued. Viewers took sides after she confronted him at the end of the meal.

TikToker Pretty_jaz10k (@pretty_jaz10k) sits across from a man at the Cheesecake Factory. She holds the phone down so that her date can’t see her recording and questions why he ordered chicken tenders at a “nice steakhouse.”

“Why the f— would you take me on a date if you could only afford chicken tenders?” she asks. The TikToker shares in on-screen text that she ordered a well-done steak.

The man replies, “I thought we were gonna split the bill. I can only afford what I can get.” He continues to question why she can’t pay for the food if he covered transportation.

The TikToker decides to leave after he insists he won’t cover her meal.

She writes in the caption, “I respectfully walked out! Don’t take a women on a date if you can’t afford a Well done steak! I don’t think I’m wrong at all!”

So, Who Should Pay On The First Date?

While dating etiquette can be flexible, over 70% of Americans still agree with the traditional idea that a man should cover the first date, according to a survey by NerdWallet. Although some believe whoever proposed the date should foot the bill.

On the r/questions subreddit, daters debated the two first-date dinner bill schools of thought.

“Reddit might say whoever asked or split etc whatever modern answer, in real life that is a huge turn off to women. The answer is the man,” one suggested.

“Let’s be real here…. If the guy doesn’t offer to pay, the woman will (likely) be really put off,” another agreed.

A third wrote, “Whoever asks the other out. Presumably the initiator picked the activity and place, and therefore should pick up the tab.”

So, regardless of the rule, most people would likely agree that the man should have covered the TikToker’s meal.

Was She Wrong For Walking Out Of Cheesecake Factory?

While many viewers are sympathetic to the woman expecting her date to pay for her meal, most don’t agree with her for recording their conversation and shaming him for his order.

“Girl, it’s the cheesecake factory, not a steakhouse. eat your food pay your bill, then block him never see him again. simple,” one suggested.

Another remarked, “IF HE WANTS CHICKEN TENDERS THATS HIS BUSINESS YOU LAME AS HELL FOR THIS.”

“Why shame him? You don’t know his situation?” a third questioned.

However, others agreed that he should have covered the date if he asked her out.

“Man up dude, if you asked her out pay up!!…,” a commenter suggested.

“I Would Be Annoyed Him Thinking Split The Bill .. But To Embarrass Him Is Childish Like You Broke To.. PAY THE BILL WALK & BLOCK,” a second wrote.

“Where he took you is not the issue. If he expected a Dutch date then he should’ve said that up front. A 1st date is an opportunity to get to know one another,” another commented.
