Jeff Bezos had the unforgivable gall to donate a paltry $100,000,000 to a network of food banks and food pantries supported by Feeding America during a health and financial crisis caused by the Tom Hanks Disease.
“Even in ordinary times, food insecurity in American households is an important problem, and unfortunately Covid-19 is amplifying that stress significantly,” Bezos, 56, said in an Instagram post Thursday.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, chief executive of Feeding America, released a statement praising the Whole Foods owner for his sizable gift.
“We are deeply grateful for Jeff Bezos’ generous $100 million contribution to Feeding America’s Covid-19 Response Fund. This donation, the largest single gift in our history, will enable us to provide more food to millions of our neighbors facing hardship during this crisis.” [via Barrons]
Darren Rovell was not as impressed.
In a since-deleted tweet, the Action Network’s Sports Business Reporter shamed the world’s richest man for making a donation that is a drop in a bucket compared to his $113 billion net worth.
I’m not into delete-shaming, but Darren Rovell just deleted this tweet where he shamed a man for a $100M donation. pic.twitter.com/zkpoFxM5hk

You know your opinion is trash when you get shamed by a goddamn food bank.
I did donate.

Rovell deleted the tweet after a slew of ‘delete this’ tweets, but maintains his opinion that $100 million dollars is some couch cushion shit.
Nah just didn’t want to fight people. Need positive energy now.

Positive energy. Lol.
Positive: “Big ups to Jeff Bezos for donating the entire GDP of a small country to help others.”
Negative: “Jeff Bezos is a cheap fuck.”
Stay positive, folks.
