Delivery Driver Goes On His Route. Then He Realizes He’s Not Alone In His Truck: ‘It’s Not His First Time Escaping’

A delivery worker drove away from his previous stop to make his next delivery. However, a strange dog popped over the seat, leading him to share the footage of the incident in a now-viral video.

The TikTok dog account Copper (@copperdoesstuffs) typically follows the day-to-day happenings of the delivery driver’s own pet German Shepherd. However, another dog scored an unplanned feature on the account.

Dash cam footage of the delivery driver shows him cruising down an empty road. Then, a white dog pokes his head around the front seat. The driver looks shocked and says, “Hi! I didn’t realize I had a pup with me. We’re going to take you back.”

The dog appears content as he sniffs around the delivery truck’s cabin. The TikTok has amassed over 17 million views as of Dec. 23.

How Often Do Dogs Jump Into Delivery Drivers’ Trucks?

The dog-chasing-mailman stereotype typically involves a pet seemingly trying to protect its owner’s property from deliveries. But some delivery workers say they’ve been chased by dogs with more wholesome intentions.

On the r/AmazonDSPDrivers subreddit, one driver posts a friendly Labrador retriever sitting patiently in the entrance of the truck. The caption reads, “Bro jumped in as I pulled up.”

Other drivers commented that they’ve witnessed dogs trying to stow away on their trucks.

“I’m a ups driver and 2 dogs jumped in while I was still moving and when I stopped one more hopped in,” one shared.

A second wrote, “OMG that happened to me once. I was sooo relieved he was a good dog.”

“A old lady next door to the house I was delivering too was letting her dog out and he ran off on the poor old lady. Ran around my van,” another recounted. “He is nowhere to be found. Looked under the van nothing. I look up and the puppy just looking at me from the driver seat window.”

How Did Dog Owners React?

In the comments, viewers noticed the pup’s GPS collar and suspected it isn’t the first time he’s tagged along with a driver.

“This collar makes me think its not his first time escaping lol,” one said.

A second joked, “Imagine what his parents thought when it says he’s going 70 mph.”

“He’s definitely a repeat escapee,” another suggested.

Other owners of overly friendly dogs say their pets have attempted the same.

“Our German Shepherd liked to ride around with our mailman. He’d hop out when they’d drive back past the house. Nobody seemed to care about it until my mom heard the substitute mailman have a shrieking panic attack when he turned around and saw who was riding shotgun,” a commenter wrote.

“My dog got a ride through the neighborhood in a FedEx truck once,” another said.
