Following the success of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, a third film in the franchise is in the works at Lionsgate. Both Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. are expected to return, as is writer/director Christian Gudegast, who also helmed the original.
Den of Thieves was released in 2018 and was a modest box office hit, grossing around $50 million. The film became a cult him among crime movie fans in the subsequent years, however, leading to the sequel being greenlit, which then opened atop the domestic box office with $15M. Thus far, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has grossed more than $32 million in the United States, with both films earning over $126 million worldwide.
Alongside Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr., Den of Thieves 2: Pantera starred Evin Ahmad, Salvatore Esposito, Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, Michael Bisping, and more.

Den of Thieves star O’Shea Jackson Jr. has been open about his desire to turn the series into a full-blown franchise, comparing it to what Vin Diesel did with the Fast & Furious franchise.
“I’m not gonna sugarcoat it: I’m trying to Vin Diesel this thing. To quote Ryan Reynolds, I want to work with Gerard until he’s 90. I have such a family feel with these guys. I know how much I want to do these other films, but we cannot cheapen this beautiful thing that we made. This one took six or seven years to get done. I hope the next one doesn’t. In our heart of hearts, we won’t make it if it’s not right and if it’s not the same thing that made audiences fall in love with the franchise in the first place,” he told Variety ahead of the release of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.
SPOILER WARNING FOR DEN OF THIEVES 2: PANTERA: The ending of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera certainly set up the franchise to continue, as Jackson Jr’s Donnie finds himself in the hands of La Cosa Nostra after being freed from prison by Butler’s Big Nick O’Brien.
