‘They Literally Executed This To PERFECTION’: North Carolina Man Goes To Restaurant. Then He Observes A Brand-New Dine-And-Dash Method Happen Before His Eyes

A North Carolina man suggested that dine-and-dashers are getting more creative after witnessing a scheme that went perfectly. Viewers of the now-viral video worry that restaurants will get more strict with payment.

In a video with over 153,000 views, TikToker Nate (@_smoothsayer) says he went to a rooftop restaurant in Charlotte with his wife.

He quickly noticed another couple at the restaurant finishing up their food and drinks. Then, another couple came in and approached the couple.

How Did They Pull Off The Dine-And-Dash Scheme?

“They greeted them. Very loud, very exuberant,” he says. Nate continues that “something happened between the two men,” and they started yelling at each other.

“They’re animated. All this hooting and hollering,” he explains. “So much so that security came and kicked all four of them out.”

That’s when he realizes that the couple left without paying.

“That’s the play. Run up a tab and then set up a scene and get kicked out,” he says. The caption reads, “They literally executed this to PERFECTION.”

In the comments of the viral video, viewers said that the restaurant may start asking for a card on file before dining to avoid the same issue.

So now they will require a card when you’re seated,” one wrote.

A second viewer said, “Plot twist, they made them start a tab before you even got there.”

A server said she asks for payment as soon as she thinks customers may try to pull this trick. She wrote, “From a retired server , I get payment soon as I see tension. ion paying for nothing cause yall wanna get into it.”

What Dine-And-Dash Schemes Do Servers Look Out For?

Servers on the r/talesfromyourserver subreddit shared the surprising dine-and-dash schemes they’ve witnessed on the job. They warned other servers to look out for subtle signs that a customer might leave without paying.

“I’ve had three in my two years of serving. One was just last night. A– complained about the food and while my manager was comping it him and his date ran out. Only a 60 dollar check but come on,” one server shared.

Another suggested that out of the ordinary attitude, both positive or negative, could be a red flag. They wrote, “Basically, in my year’s experience, the patrons are either complete a– or the nicest people on the planet Earth.”

A third suggested that certain seating requests could mean the customer plans to leave without paying. The server said, “The other night my friend had a guy try to dine-and-dash. He asked to sit near the back door and slipped out at the end before receiving his check.”
