Disney is building a second "Storyliving" neighborhood
Disney is building another neighborhood for Disney adults to live in. The latest “Storyliving” residential community will open in Pittsboro, North Carolina in 2028.
Asteria — Disney’s latrest Storyliving residential community — is currently under construction in Pittsboro, North Carolina, within the Chatham Park development southwest of Raleigh.
Disney is building a 4,000-home neighborhood in North Carolina complete with Disney cast members, Peter Pan motifs, and a two-story signature restaurant
The community will feature approximately 4,000 homes across 1,500 acres, with a mix of single-family and attached residences, including some designated for residents 55 and older. The Mouse House says the development will be for “discovering new experiences, building connections and continuing learning” throughout the residents’ time there.
“For those on a never-ending quest in search of new knowledge, new experiences and new connections, Asteria™ is envisioned as a sanctuary for lifelong learners. And in the spirit of creating true community, gathering spots and green spaces will provide a perfect setting for meeting new friends who share a passion for living life to its fullest,” the official website reads.

The centerpiece of the development is the Second Star Club — a central gathering space designed by Walt Disney Imagineering featuring Peter Pan-inspired motifs, a signature two-story restaurant called Marquet Hall, an event pavilion, creative studios, a wellness center, and a 55+ lounge.
Disney cast members will also be a part of the community experience, providing the company’s signature service to residents year-round.
“We had an incredible time developing the creative brand and story for Asteria, the new Storyliving by Disney community. We chose the community’s name to pay homage to the native North Carolina aster flower,” Shawn Montague, site portfolio executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, said in a statement.
“We thought it was a beautiful way to honor North Carolina’s natural beauty from the Earth to the sky, in our campus of discovery.”
Home sales are expected to begin in fall 2027, with residents anticipated in fall 2028. This is Disney’s second Storyliving community, with the first, Cotino, having already opened in Rancho Mirage, California.
Cotino is a 618-acre development in the Coachella Valley featuring a 24-acre man-made lagoon with white sand beaches as its centerpiece (pictured above). Similarly, Disney cast members are present in the community year-round.
Homes range in price from $1.34 million to $3.2 million, with optional membership in the Artisan Club — which requires a $20,000 initiation fee plus $11,000 to $19,000 in annual dues on top of HOA fees running $400 to $600 per month.
