A self-described animal communicator met with a rescue beagle for her 740th session, where she says she uses telepathy to hear the dog’s real thoughts. The dog medium shared the emotional moment the beagle, Ned, told her he used to be “a number.”
In a video with over 74,000 views, TikToker Lori Cowen (@loricowen_) shares a picture of the small male beagle she met with recently, Ned.
Cowen frequently meets with pets and their families to use telepathy and “intuitive communication” to figure out what the animals actually think about their lives and the other people and animals in the home. She currently has a waitlist for her animal communication sessions.
She says Ned’s parents rescued him from Beagle Freedom Project, an organization that helps beagles who have been used by experimental research sites.
Cowen shares that Ned told her he’s “always in a cheery mood” and that he has a “positive outlook on life.” However, what she says the dog told her next shocks her.
What Did The Beagle Tell The Dog Medium?
Cowen says that Ned showed her an image in her mind of researchers putting makeup on him. He even has a tattoo of his facility number.
“‘It was terrible,'” she says, quoting Ned. “‘I didn’t have a name. I was a number. … I wasn’t me until my parents took me home.'”
She continues that the beagle opened up about why he has certain behavioral issues, like reactivity around other dogs.
“I said, ‘So could you live with another dog.’ He said, ‘With the right one. Maybe another beagle like me, like the Wounded Warrior Project,'” Cowen says.
The dog medium says she became noticeably upset at the end of the session, and Ned assured her that she shouldn’t let his story weigh on her.
“This is the first and only time I’ve talked to an animal that has said, ‘I was a number,'” she says at the end of the clip. “This stuff affects me.”
In the comments, viewers praised Cowen for using her platform to spark discussion about animal rights issues.
“Lori the work you do is really amazing. You’re able to get all sorts of information and knowledge from these animals with stories, it’s incredible,” one said.
Another wrote, “This breaks my heart and reaffirms my dedication to not buying from brands who test on animals.”
Why Does Experimental Research Use Beagles?
According to PETA, beagles are the breed of choice for many labs due to their laidback and submissive demeanor. These traits make it less likely that the dog will resist experimentation or attack a researcher.
Many of these beagles have a small number tattoo on their ear from their time at the research facilities, which lines up with Cowen’s story about Ned’s past.
While it’s still technically legal to experiment on beagles, public outcry has pushed the many federal research agencies to reconsider the practice, according to Humane World.
How Does Animal Communication Work?
In another pinned video on her page, Cowen explains more about why she believes she telepathically communicates with animals.
“Animal communicators can receive messages in different ways,” she says. “They can receive words; they can receive images. They can just receive knowings.” However, Cowen says that she usually hears animals speaking directly to her, like a normal conversation.
Despite believing she experiences telepathic communication, Cowen says she still identifies as a “skeptic” and understands others’ skepticism around her abilities.
“I know it’s crazy, but I’m real,” she says.
@loricowen_ My conversation with Ned was hard for me, but Ned was one of the happiest most positive animals I’ve ever talked to #animalcommunicator #animalcommunication #telepathy #petpsychic #petmedium
