Domino’s Worker Gives Woman Too Much Change Back For $65 Order. Then She Tries To Help Him: ‘So You Don’t Want It?’

A woman went to Domino’s to pick up her pizza order and handed the young cashier $75. He gave her too much change back and had a surprising response when she told him.

In a video with over 858,000 views, TikToker Kaitlin (@essentiallykaitlin) drives home with her Domino’s pizza boxes in the passenger’s seat. She recounts the bizarre interaction with the teenage cashier.

Did He Give Her Too Much Change?

She hands him $75 with a coin to make the change easier. However, she planned to tell the young worker to keep the change.

“He took the cash, didn’t take the change, and closed the window,” she says. “So I couldn’t tell him to keep it.”

Then, the worker handed her $15 in one-dollar bills and “a whole bunch of pennies and nickels.” She realized he gave her too much change back and told him.

“He’s like, ‘So you don’t want it?'” she continues. “And I’m like, ‘Well your drawer is going to be wrong because this money is not mine.'”

The cashier asked again if she wanted him to take the change back. The caption reads, “Hopefully he was able to get it all sorted out.”

What Happens To Workers When The Drawer Is Off?

Balancing a drawer at your first fast-food job can be nerve-wracking. Other workers on the r/innout subreddit shared what actually happens if they fail to balance their cash drawer at the end of the shift.

“Pay window is tough and can for sure get confusing quick especially when cars are being called up. As everyone has said at worst it will be a write up but don’t stress it just work to be better next time,” one worker said, offering encouragement to another who was anxious after not balancing.

Another suggested, “Worst case scenario, actually, you’ll get written up. You have to sign a little thing and your manager will talk to you, basically saying you messed up and that’s why there’s missing money.”

However, some commenters on Kaitlin’s video said the situation could be more serious for the inexperienced worker.

One remarked, “If i were the manager, instantly fired.”

“A mistake isn’t doubling down on giving a customer free money that doesn’t even make sense,” a second said, suggesting the worker’s attitude after realizing his mistake is the real issue.

Other Viewers React To The Mistake

Other customers joked about the situation in the comments, asking Kaitlin to drop the Domino’s location on the off chance they could score free change.

A viewer wrote, “Which dominos? I feel like eating pizza.”

“I wouldn’t even have said anything,” another commented.

“Yeah but these are all big companies take everything for free atp I would’ve given you everything back plus the food,” a third added.

Fast-food workers in the comments said a lack of counting skills may also be a widespread issue with their younger counterparts.

“As a dominos manager it happens a lot. This is why they let me tip out in cash based on performance at the end of the night,” one said.

“I think it’s this new generation, I work at a restaurant and one of the Togo ppl was asked to break a 100 by a server and she was confused and didn’t know what to do,” a second suggested.
