Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo shared a mysterious tease on Instagram that led fans to believe a trailer for the highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film would be dropping soon. It turned out to just be a promotion for a pop-op coffee shop.

In recent days, Joe and Anthony Russo — director of the MCU films Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday — shared cryptic posts on Instagram with the hashtag #DomLatveria.

Alongside the hashtag, the Russo Brothers shared an address in London and promised a “surprise” at 2 p.m., leading many fans to believe that the first full-length trailer for the film was going to be released.

Instead, the “surprise” was a Doctor Doom-themed pop-up shop called Dom Latveria Coffee. The Russos themselves showed up to the event and handed out signed bags of the coffee.

“The official coffee of world domination. Approved by the ministry of morale. Resistance is delicious,” the bag reads.

Marvel fans angry with Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo for cryptic teases for what wound up just being a coffee pop-up shop

Needless to say, given the anticipation for the first Doomsday trailer and the deliberately mysterious methods that the Russos used to promote the pop-up, fans were quite disappointed and vented their frustrations on social media.

“It is completely out of touch for Marvel and the Russos to think selling a Doom themed coffee brand is the best way to promote your all star superhero movie,” one fan bemoaned.

“The Russos are celebrating AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY with a Dom Latveria coffee pop up at SXSW. Thinking people who hoped for a trailer are going to be disappointed,” a second added.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, and marks Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU — this time as the villainous Doctor Doom. Alongside Downey Jr, the cast also includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, and many more.

While a full length trailer has yet to drop, a series of teaser featuring Captain America, Thor, the X-Men, and the Wakandans/Fantastic Four have been released.
