DoorDash, a popular food delivery service, faced backlash recently after one of its drivers was caught on camera cursing out a customer for leaving him what he deemed to be a controversial tip.

The incident, which involved a $5 tip on a $20 pizza order, was captured on the customer’s doorbell camera and quickly went viral on TikTok.

The customer, Lacey Purciful, posted the video on her TikTok account (@ladybug3660), where it garnered over 200,000 views within a short period.

The footage showed the DoorDash driver, identified as “Dasher Corey,” handing over the pizza to Purciful and then turning to walk away. However, moments later, he abruptly turned back and remarked, “I just want to say it’s a nice house for a $5 tip.”

Purciful responded with a “You’re welcome,” to which the driver replied with an expletive, saying, “F— you.”

The video quickly drew criticism for the driver’s behavior, prompting DoorDash to take action.

In a statement to The New York Post, DoorDash confirmed that they had terminated the driver’s contract as a result of his inappropriate conduct.

The company emphasized that while it is acceptable for drivers to request tips respectfully, harassing or abusing customers is never acceptable. DoorDash expressed their commitment to maintaining a high standard of service and vowed to reach out to the customer affected by the incident.

The TikTok video captured only a portion of the encounter, but it highlighted the driver’s disrespectful attitude toward a seemingly generous tip.

Purciful shared the video on TikTok with the question, “So how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie??”

The incident sparked a broader conversation about tipping etiquette and the treatment of delivery drivers. While tipping is generally considered customary in the service industry, the appropriate amount can vary depending on several factors.

It is essential to remember that respect and professionalism should be maintained by both customers and delivery personnel throughout the transaction.
