Someone Is Raffling Off A Jaguar F-Type For $30 A Ticket On Instagram

When I was in middle school, someone decided it would be a good idea to introduce children in some of the most formative years of their lives about the almost unmatchable adrenaline rush that comes with gambling by organizing a basket raffle to raise money for the PTA. I was lucky (or depending on how you look at it, unlucky) enough to take home one of the prizes that night, and I developed an itch that’s needed to be scratched ever since.

I’m a big raffle guy. I can’t even imagine how much I’ve “donated to charity” thanks to 50/50 competitions at sporting events I’ve attended over the years. I’ve never lived in Wisconsin, but if I did I have a feeling I’d spent most of my Sundays sucking down Spotted Cow hoping to score some short ribs at a meat festival at a VFW. Part of me wishes the town from that short story where the villagers stone people to death every summer actually existed just so I could get the chance to experience the ultimate rush.

It appears that plenty of people in the United Kingdom also share my passion for lying to themselves about the laws of probability. Last year, someone decided to raffle off a mansion (along with a number of other perks) for $14 a pop, and another British man has decided to pad his finances by letting people purchase tickets for a chance to take home one of his luxury cars.

According to Business Insider, real estate agent Ed Bezzant is raffling off a Jaguar F-Type with 22,000 miles on it for around $30 a ticket in order to prepare for the upcoming birth of his first child (the car retails for around $60,000 off the lot).

Once all 2,250 tickets up for grabs are sold, Bezzant says he’s planning on drawing the winner’s name live on Instagram. There is one small catch— once your name is picked, you’ll have one minute to find the titular character in a random “Where’s Waldo?” image via FaceTime in order to secure the prize.

Bezzant previously sold his Porsche to finance his wedding, and I have to say, it deeply pains me to see people being forced to part with their material possessions like this. Let’s all hope the future is a little bit brighter.
