Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Now that Glass Onion has finally hit Netflix, fans of Rian Johnson’s whodunnit franchise have spent recent days reflecting on the second entry in the series, which once again follows Daniel Craig as gentlemanly Southern sleuth Benoit Blanc.
In Glass Onion, the plot unfolds on a remote Greek island owned by tech billionaire Miles Bron, who was played by Edward Norton. Given the eventual reveal that Bron is actually a bumbling idiot who haphazardly orchestrated the film’s central murder, fans of the film immediately began comparing the character to Elon Musk.
“Like everyone in the world, I assumed Miles Bron was a complicated genius. But why? Look into the clear center of this glass onion. Miles Bron is a idiot,” Craig croons at the film’s climax.

There's an Elon Musk documentary on Netflix under the name of Glass Onion, and I cannot recommend it enough. pic.twitter.com/zPUiGdviEG

Rian Johnson, the film’s director, was actually asked about this growing comparison and claimed it’s just a “horrible horrible accident” that Glass Onion hit theaters in tandem wit Musk’s bungled takeover of Twitter.
“It’s so weird. It’s very bizarre. I hope there isn’t some secret marketing department at Netflix that’s funding this Twitter takeover,” Johnson said.
Watched GLASS ONION again and I think it’s beautiful that Rian Johnson was like “I wonder if my class critique was a bit too subtle last time, let’s just dedicate 2.5 hours to pointing and laughing at Elon Musk, the world’s number one dumbass bitch”

Given the number of tweets out there making the connection between the two, though, the similarities between the two are clearly evident:

More people need to see “Glass Onion” to appreciate how Rian Johnson tried to creat a sort of ur-billionaire character out of composite parts, and yet Elon Musk somehow stumbled backwards into fully inhabiting the character this year. It makes me chuckle. pic.twitter.com/fiM6g399eB

We watched "Glass Onion" the other night. Overall great movie.
I especially loved that the obvious Elon Musk type character turned out to be a fraud who piggy-backed off of other people's work and repackaged it as his genius.
It's as if everyone's catching on…

Glass Onion is currently streaming on Netflix. As for the original Knives Out, if you find yourself in the mood to watch that one, you’ll have to rent it on one of the various streaming services. During a recent interview, Johnson indicated that he’s begun writing the script for the third film, which will see Craig reprise his role as Benot Blanc once more.
