Here we go again. A rich young celebrity, Emma Roberts, claims that her famous relatives not only didn’t help their career, they actually made it harder for her.
For those unfamiliar with Emma Roberts, she is the 33-year-old daughter of Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts, who has more than 700 credits on his resume, the niece of Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts and actress Lisa Roberts Gillan, stepdaughter of actress Eliza Roberts, granddaughter of acting coach Betty Lou Bredemus, the step-granddaughter of successful screenwriters David Rayfiel and Lila Garrett, and the step-daughter of Kelly Nickels, bassist for the bands Faster Pussycat and L.A. Guns.
With a family tree so steeped in acting and screenwriting, plus the fact that Emma Roberts spent time on the sets of her aunt Julia’s films, one would have a hard time finding anyone with an easier path to Hollywood success.
However, that is not how Emma Roberts sees it.
“I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business,” Roberts claimed in the latest issue of Flaunt magazine. “People have opinions and sometimes maybe they’re not good opinions of people in your family.
“I’ve never gotten a job because of it, I know I definitely have lost a couple of jobs because of it.”
Needless to say, and rightfully so, Emma Roberts’ comments about her family’s influence on her acting career are not going over very well on social media.
I feel for you Emma Roberts!! 😢 hand over your family wealth and name to me so I can carry that heavy burden of being a nepo baby

“Sure. The fact is 99.9% of people vying for similar positions would never get the opportunity so they would never even get the chance to ‘prove’ themselves,” read another comment. “This is some sort of phony self-serving narcissist conceit to assuage their conscience if they have one.”
“She doesn’t get that she likely wouldn’t even get that chance without her parents,” someone else commented.
“The fact that she has the opportunity to prove herself is the part where shes privileged,” another commenter wrote.
“Boo f—— hoo,” another person responded.
When I google "Emma roberts first role" I read that "As a child she spent some time on the sets of movies with her aunt Julia. This helped Emma decide that she wanted to follow a career in acting. Her first movie role came in Blow (2001)" at age 10. Nothing to do with her family.

Oh well. Maya Hawke probably agrees with her.
