‘Didn’t It Used To Be Like Golds Gym? ‘: Arizona Man Tries An EOS Fitness Experience. Then He Leaves In Shock

Getting to the gym is already a motivational struggle, even if you know the place you’re going to is clean, orderly, and stocked with enough equipment for everyone present.

However, the truth is that gyms often get crowded and messy, and sometimes the attitudes of other gym-goers can put you off exercising altogether.

According to one EOS Fitness client in California, the negative sides of the gym he visited don’t end there.

In his video, which got over 713,500 views, TikTok creator Luke Multz (@themultz) shared his experience of just recently switching from a bodybuilding gym to EOS.

“So I just went to an EOS, or EOS Fitness, whatever—however you say it,” he begins.

According to Multz, the atmosphere inside the gym immediately surprised him.

“They were not lying when they say that [expletive] is genuinely like a nightclub,” he says. “It felt like there was an event going on.”

He explains that the first issue began before he even stepped inside the building.

“It was ridiculous. You could not park anywhere,” he says.

Once inside, he says the environment felt far different from the type of gym he’s used to training at.

“Everyone was kind of mingling,” he says. “There were little groups and posses and people everywhere talking.”

Multz explains that he typically trains at a bodybuilding-style gym, which tends to have a much quieter and more focused environment.

“I’m used to training at a bodybuilding gym. It is not like that,” he says.

Instead, he says the overall vibe reminded him more of a social scene than a workout space.

“Completely different vibe, completely different atmosphere,” he says. “It genuinely felt like a night out at the bars.”

Commenters Share Differing Experiences

In the comments section, viewers shared their own opinions about EOS gyms.

“EOS is def for the ppl who just wanna be seen and socialize,” one user wrote. “Always groups of kids & their tripods. I switched to Planet [Fitness], it’s so calm and everyone minds their business & they added new equipment. I’ll never go back to EOS.”

Another commenter believed they knew exactly which gym Multz was referring to.

“I already know ur talking about the Guadalupe EOS,” they wrote.

Multz confirmed the guess in a reply. “It indeed was Guadalupe,” he responded, referring to an EOS location in Tempe, Arizona.

Others argued that the experience can vary depending on the gym.

“It just depends on the location fr,” another commenter wrote. “Mine is in a nice location and never is busy busy but the one near ASU is awful.”

What Makes EOS Fitness Different?

EOS Fitness has over 200 locations in the U.S. and is known for its budget-friendly membership pricing. At most locations, a single-gym membership costs around $9.99 per month.

Because of the low price point, some EOS locations can become significantly more crowded than traditional gyms. It does heavily depend on each location and community.

Just as commenters shared under the video, other netizens online have expressed similarly split reactions to different locations.

One Reddit user on r/EOSFitness wrote that while the gyms are properly equipped, the locations themselves can be an issue. “Their business model though, is to give you A LOT of value for a low cost,” they wrote. “I recommend adding it into your rotation of gyms you go to if you can afford it.”

Another poster, on the other hand, said the crowdedness makes it impossible for them to work out. “I mean every single machine is in use, including the 20 million treadmills and StairMasters,” they wrote.
