The main trailer for the upcoming F1 film, directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and starring legendary actor Brad Pitt, has been released. F1, a co-production between Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Original Films, will hit theaters on Friday, June 27.
Similar to the fighter jet sequences in Top Gun: Maverick, F1 looks to put audiences inside the driver’s seat of a Formula 1 car in a revolutionary new way. As such, F1 reportedly has a whopping budget in the neighborhood of $300 million.
Alongside Academy Award winner Brad Pitt, F1 also stars Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Shea Whigham, Joseph Balderrama, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Callie Cooke, Will Merrick and more.

“Dubbed ‘the greatest that never was,’ Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition—and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone.
Alongside the actors, all ten Formula One teams and their drivers from the 2023 season appear in the film, such as Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, Logan Sargeant and Alexander Albon.
In addition to Top Gun: Maverick, Kosinski has directed the films Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave, and Spiderhead. F1 will be released in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, June 27. You can also check out the previously released trailer below.
