An All-Female ‘Fast & Furious’ Is In The Works

Female Fast & Furious movie said to be in the works according to Vin Diesel.

There have been 11 Fast and Furious movies, including spinoffs, and the F&F franchise has made nearly $6 billion in the worldwide box office. One of the upcoming Fast & Furious movies will go in a different direction with an all-female cast.

While promoting Fast and Furious 9, Vin Diesel said that there is already a female Fast & Furious in the works. Let’s hope they don’t have to rename the movie a week after it releases like Birds of Prey.

‘I’ve created a female spin-off,” said the actor who plays Dominic Toretto. “And that script comes next month, so we will see.”

The idea for a girl-power version of the massively successful action movie franchise was hinted about nearly two years ago.

The script for the female protagonist-driven spin-off is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians Of the Galaxy), Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser), and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel).

You could expect Michelle Rodriguez to be back as Letty Ortiz, and Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto. The spinoff could feature newcomers such as Nathalie Emmanuel and Charlize Theron.

This comes after Michelle Rodriguez threatened to leave the franchise if they didn’t “show some love to the women.”

“First and foremost, bringing some more women on the good team, not just bringing an amazing actress to play the bad guy, and having more female camaraderie, having women do things independently outside of what the boys are doing — that is truly the voice of female independence,” Rodriguez said in 2017.

“Now, having girls run around and do a bunch of really cool stuff, that’s great, it’s wonderful, but we never talk to each other. It’s very rare that they even look at each other,” Rodriguez continued. “I’ve been making movies with Jordana [Brewster], who plays the sister of Dom Toretto, for 16 years and I can count on one hand how many lines I’ve had to her.

“I think that’s pathetic and it’s lack of creativity,” the Hollywood actress added. “Guys don’t know what girls talk about. They think that girls just sit around talking about guys and it’s a sad truth of men being the dominant writers in Hollywood.”

The 10th installment of Fast & Furious is expected to be released in 2021. Fast and Furious 9 races into theaters on May 22, 2020.
