New York Woman Accuses FIFA Of ‘Stealing’ $9K From Her After She Tried To Purchase 2 World Cup Tickets: ‘Chase Is As Guilty As FIFA’

This year’s FIFA World Cup will be held between Canada, the United States, and Mexico—and fans aren’t too happy about it.

To start, ticket prices for the American games are incredibly high. Individual tickets have gone for thousands of dollars, and even parking tickets for certain games can cost hundreds. Second, the Trump Administration’s recent ICE crackdowns have caused some to warn travelers against visiting the United States for fear of safety concerns.

Still, the World Cup plans to go on as expected, and fans are buying up tickets. One of those fans is TikTok user Christina (@capturedbychristinaanne). In a recent viral video, she says she bought two tickets to a game—and ended up being charged for five tickets, with no real tickets to show for it.

What Happened To This Woman’s FIFA Ticket Order?

In her video, which currently has over 2.1 million views, Christina says that she purchased two World Cup tickets in October. However, when she looked at her bank statement, she was charged for five tickets—resulting in a charge of over $9,000. To make matters worse, she wasn’t sent the tickets for which she paid.

“I sent them proof immediately after I noticed it on my bank statement, which was like two minutes after I clicked ‘Confirm Order,’” she recalls. “I sent them screenshot proof that it said I only purchased two tickets, not $9,250 worth of tickets. Filed a dispute with Chase because FIFA didn’t answer. A week of constant emails and me nagging them, no answer.”

Eventually, FIFA said they could process the refund—but only if she placed an additional order for two more tickets. Not trusting them to actually refund her, she declined and began to repeatedly email FIFA.

Chase Doesn’t Help

Finally, she got an answer. In an email, FIFA claimed that the TikToker had been refunded on Dec. 3—something she insists is not the case. Still, she waited several weeks for the possible refund. When it didn’t arrive, she emailed again, only to be told her case was closed.

From here, Christina turned her attention to Chase. Despite providing evidence of the promised refund—and the fact that no refund was received—Christina says that Chase would not approve the dispute.

“So, I have zero tickets and I’m out $9,250,” she summarizes. “I have dreamed about going to see Italy play in the World Cup, or Brazil or Argentina, because those are my three favorite teams. I’ve been dreaming about that since I was a little kid. … I saved my good, hard earned money to buy two tickets, and you took advantage of me.”

Things Take A Turn

Across several follow-up videos, Christina detailed the updates on her situation.

To start, she says she was contacted by both Chase and FIFA and asked to provide additional information. Although she had already done this before, she says that she did it again. Christina further states that she believes that they were only acting due to immense pressure from viewers and the complaints she made to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and her attorney general.

Eventually, Christina actually received her refund—only there was a catch.

“Chase has retroactively charged me interest since October,” she explains in a follow-up. In a comment, she says that this interest amounted to around $500.

“A lot of people have also been tagging FIFA saying that I deserve free tickets for compensation,” she says of her present situation. “And honestly, I do. I really think I do.”

A final update reveals that Chase contacted Christina and refunded the interest. At the time of writing, Christina has not received any free tickets.

She’s Not The Only One

While Christina’s problem appears to be unique, other soccer fans have reported issues actually buying tickets for the upcoming World Cup games.

For example, in November 2025, numerous internet users reported that the ticket purchasing system required buyers to complete a CAPTCHA. The problem? The CAPTCHA simply never showed up, making it impossible to complete the transaction.

Others have claimed that they purchased tickets and never received an email confirmation. It is unclear whether and how these issues were resolved.

REFUND ME IN FULL @FIFA World Cup @FIFA Women’s World Cup @chase I’ve also tried calling fifa’s customer service line, and each time I’ve been told that a supervisor will call me back and nobody has. I understand that $9,250 isn’t a lot for a multibillion dollar company, but it is for a regular person. Please refund me as promised!

Commenters Are Frustrated

In the comments section, users demanded more of both FIFA and Chase.

“Now change banks,” said a user.

“FINALLY making it right,” added another under the final update. “Shouldn’t have even taken this long smh.”

“This is why millennials screenshot everything btw,” declared a third.
