A man wants to know why a burger from Five Guys costs so much, and others joined in to criticize the ever-rising cost.
A man went to Five Guys for some food and was shocked when he realized how much a burger costs now, likening the price to an old Dodge Challenger.
In a viral video with over 1.2 million views and hundreds of comments, a TikToker called out the fast-food restaurant over its prices.
“Yo, why the f— is a burger from Five Guys the same price as a 2015 Dodge Challenger?” the man asks in the clip.
The video may have been short; however it did appear to strike a nerve.
Commenters appeared to agree with the man’s criticism.
‘Put It On Klarna’
In the comments section, many called out Five Gives prices with jokes.
“Can’t even add fries fr I gotta put it on Klarna,” user @brittanymarie1205 wrote.
Her comment received over 36,000 likes.
“Should have financing options if you make it a meal,” another said.
Others also claimed the fast-food chain has also been giving fewer fries than in the past.
“He ain’t lying! Then have the nerve to skimp on the fries lately,” one viewer alleged.
How Much Doe Five Guys Burger Cost?
According to Food Republic, Five Guys has some of the highest prices compared to other fast-food joints.
For example, a cheeseburger from the chain costs $14.52, more than double the cost of a McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder with cheese ($6.39).
The restaurant’s menu side items also cost more compared to its competitors.
A side of small “little” fries can set you back $6.36. Meanwhile, a bottle of Coke from the restaurant costs $4.62. Prices may vary by location. However a burger, fries, and drink could certainly add up to well over $20 at the burger joint.
Outrage And Pushback
This is not the first time the restaurant has faced online criticism because of its prices.
In 2024, the New York Post covered the backlash against the company’s price increases after a customer posted a photo of a receipt from the burger spot.
Based on the receipt, a soda, small fries, and burger totaled $21.91. The customer spent $24.10 after adding a tip.
Many responded by criticizing the prices.
Nevertheless, the restaurant continues to pride itself on using fresh, never frozen ingredients. It is also one of only five fast food chains that actually uses 100% pure beef.
The fries are also made fresh. Potatoes arrive at the store every morning and are prepped and fried at the location where they are sold.
Still, many still question the ever-increasing cost of eating at the restaurant.
