Florida Woman Goes To Crunch Fitness. Then She Gets Into A Standoff Over One Specific Machine

A Florida woman who follows a strict bodybuilding routine headed to her first machine at Crunch Fitness. When she asked the woman using it how many more sets she had, the woman on the machine flipped out.

In a video with over 5,000 views, TikToker Josie (@josieleininger) recounts the bizarre interaction, noting that she “hates” going to Crunch Fitness but made an exception to get her workout in.

Her first workout was on the hip abduction machine, and she noticed a woman using it. She says she waited patiently but soon realized the woman was on her fifth set.

“She’s on her phone in between sets. Taking selfies,” Josie says. “I’m like how long is she going to be?”

How Does The Woman React?

Josie says she decided to approach the woman to ask her how many sets she has left.

“I try not to do that to anyone but you know, I need to know,” she continues. “I’m on a time crunch.”

The woman took her headphones off and, according to Josie, said, “I didn’t know you were just standing there and waiting on me.”

“She’s like, cussing me out,” Josie recounts. “She’s like, ‘It’s so freaking weird like why are you freaking standing over there just watching me, starring at me.'”

Josie says the woman continued to berate her and told her to use “another machine.” The woman, Josie says, put her headphones back on and started talking to herself, making rude remarks about Josie as she completed another five sets.

Should You Ask Someone When They’ll Be Done At The Gym?

Despite the Crunch Fitness member’s extreme reaction to the TikToker asking when she’ll be done with the machine, other gym-goers assure that it’s a normal question.

On the r/ask subreddit, a new gym members questioned whether it’s rude to ask another member when they’ll be done will a specific piece of equipment. They wrote, “The other day I was asked by three separate people if I was done using various pieces of equipment…I just use something else until the user is done.”

One longtime gym user replied, “Being friendly and asking politely how many sets you have left is normal gym etiquette.”

Another suggested asking the person using the equipment to alternate sets, so both users can finish their workouts quicker.

“Depends on how long you stay there. I sometimes ask if I can alternate between sets. That way, we maximize our gym time,” they wrote.

What Do Viewers Think Of The Crunch Fitness Member’s Reaction?

Viewers shared their opinion of the woman’s strange reaction to Josie in the TikTok’s comments.

“Dude she seriously has no right to be mad at you im so sorry i would be pissed!!” one exclaimed.

A second remarked, “And this is why I workout at home.”

Some suggested that there are better ways on both ends to handle sharing equipment with other gym members.

“I mean youre not wrong. but at the same time you gotta learn how to do the same workout off the machine. no need to waste time waiting,” a viewer suggested.

Another said, “I always offer for people to work in with me if I have a few sets left. People are so stuck up like it’s not that hard to be nice.”

“There are so many different ways to do the same exercise. Ask your coach to list the different options…” a third added.
