Florida Woman Bans Boyfriend From Playing GTA 6 After Learning What Happens In The Game

With a November release window, Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most hyped games of the year. But some partners are less than pleased about their other halves playing the game.

Fans have already had a lot to say about the game, with many already targeting a streamer character to kill, but for some partners, the relationship mechanics between Jason and Lucia, the protagonists, are too much to bear.

One of the most vocal complainants is Florida-based TikToker Shelby Haas (@diaryofasalesgirl). In a tongue-in-cheek TikTok, which has already garnered 5 million views, she said, “In absolutely no human way is my fiancé playing GTA 6 after I just saw that you literally have to maintain a relationship with a girl in the video game and text her, and she’ll get mad if you don’t text her back and you have to take her on dates and you can have [sex] with her.”

She went on to complain about other aspects of the game, like the strip club, nudist community, and the fact that, in one part of the game, the goal is apparently for the characters to have sex.

“Don’t let your boyfriend or fiancé or husband play GTA 6,” she reiterated.

Not Everyone Is On Her Side

Some commenters saw the funny side of it. “My GTA 6 girlfriend wouldn’t treat me like this,” one quipped.

“Ladies, if your man thinks cartoon women are hot there’s a bigger issue at hand,” a second added.

While a third remarked, “As a Sims player with Wicked Whims this is light work.”

Others disagreed.

“ITS A F—— GAME BRO,” a fourth wrote.

“It’s not that serious,” a fifth said.

And a sixth opined, “Y’all need help. I’ts NOT REAL! Let him play!”

Gamer Turns To Reddit After Girlfriend Bans GTA 6

Haas isn’t the only person with reservations about her partner playing GTA 6. In a post on the r/Advice subreddit, a gamer explained that his girlfriend even threatened to leave him if he played the game.

“My girlfriend is hell bent on me NOT playing this game claiming it’s sleazy and promotes crime and sex,” he said. “While she is not wrong I tried to explain to her those are aspects of the game but it also has tons of other stuff to do in a game that’s been in development for years. Nothing seems to be getting through and I’m not able to convince her that GTA isn’t a fetish game.”

He asked Redditors for advice on how to convince his girlfriend that GTA 6 isn’t worth worrying about.

“Sounds like you need to decide if GTA6 is more important than being in a relationship with her,” one responded. “She’s drawn a line, and it’s up to you whether you cross it or not. That said, I know I wouldn’t want to be with someone who tries to control what I can and can’t do with my free time with ultimatums.”

A second said that “if she’s that insecure over a game then run.”

Similarly, a third wrote, “Sorry, if your girlfriend is saying she’ll leave you over a video game you’ve got worse issues man. If you’ve explained things to her and she’s still not getting it that’s kinda a her thing. Having your own hobbies and interests is totally fine just as if she had things she liked that you didn’t it would be fair for her to enjoy. Threatening to leave over something as minuscule as a game says a lot more about her than it does you. It’s also a manipulation tactic.”
