The Los Angeles area is filled with iconic landmarks that have been immortalized in movies and television shows. That includes the mansion that was featured in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which is going up for sale for the first time in close to 50 years and is set to fetch a massive chunk of change.

It’s been more than 35 years since the world was introduced to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as well as the classic intro where Will Smith recaps the circumstances that led to his character fleeing West Philadelphia after one little flight before rolling up to a massive mansion in the titular wealthy enclave of Los Angeles.

The show repeatedly broke the fourth wall to remind viewers that the scenes that took place inside that home were actually filmed on a set, but the exterior shots were captured on location on a massive estate that is actually located in Brentwood, which (depending on LA’s notorious traffic) is located around 15 minutes away from Bel Air.

In 2020, Airbnb offered fans the chance to stay in the house that’s been privately owned since the 1970s for just $30 a night, but you’ll have to pay around one million times more if you want to buy it now that it’s going up for sale.

The mansion from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is hitting the market for $30 million

It’s clear Uncle Phil did pretty well for himself as a senior partner at a law firm before he became a Superior Court judge based on the house he was able to afford. It’s not entirely clear how much that mansion was worth when the show aired, but it’s safe to say the owners who’ve lived there since it sold for $732,000 in 1978 are going to get a very solid return on their investment.

According to TMZ, the mansion is going up for sale for the first time in 48 years, and the real estate group that is handling things says it will be listed for a little under $30 million when it officially goes on the market at the end of January.

The buyer will get an approximately 10,000-square-foot home that boasts six bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, and a swimming pool located on a 38,510-square-foot lot in one of LA’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

Not too shabby.
