The best look yet at the Cliff Booth sequel has been released

Netflix has released a new trailer for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the upcoming sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that sees Brad Pitt reprise his Oscar-winning role as Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth.

The film, which was written by Tarantino and directed by Fight Club and The Social Network filmmaker David Fincher, is set in 1977, eight years after the events of the original film, and follows Booth as he begins working as a fixer in the increasingly seedy world of Hollywood.

The trailer released by Netflix offers another look at Brad Pitt’s return as Cliff Booth, who has largely left the stuntman business behind in favor of doing odd jobs, working as a projectionist, and handling dangerous situations for powerful Hollywood figures.

The trailer also revisits one of the original film’s most memorable moments, the infamous fight between Cliff and Bruce Lee, with Booth acknowledging that the story of him beating up the martial arts legend has been exaggerated over the years.

The plot gets underway when talent agent Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki, approaches Booth on behalf of her client, television star Charlie Peters (Scott Caan), who is interested in hiring him for a job that has nothing to do with stunt work.

As the trailer progresses, however, it becomes clear that Booth is once again finding himself caught up in Hollywood’s criminal underworld, with the footage featuring car chases, gunfights, gangsters, and plenty of the violence that audiences have come to expect from a Tarantino screenplay.

In addition to Pitt, Debicki, and Caan, the film’s ensemble cast includes Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian.

Notably absent from the sequel is Leonardo DiCaprio, who starred alongside Pitt in the original film as fading television actor Rick Dalton. The trailer does, however, reference Dalton, with Booth joking that he stopped working as his stunt double because the actor got too fat.

The film marks a reunion between Pitt and Fincher, who previously collaborated on Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, while also serving as a rare instance of Tarantino handing over directing duties on one of his original screenplays to another filmmaker.

Released in 2019, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood earned over $390 million at the worldwide box office and received 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for DiCaprio. Pitt ultimately won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Booth.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will be released exclusively in IMAX theaters for two weeks beginning November 25, before making its streaming debut on December 23.
