The new trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been released ahead of the film’s premiere in late March.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, which was a sequel to 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Check out the official trailer for the film below.
Hilariously, the project is being pitched as a “buddy cop” comedy, with the new poster for the film featuring the tagline “They don’t have to like each other. They just have to work together.”

Director Adam Wingard recently made similar buddy-cop-related comments during an interview with Empire Magazine.
“The buddy-cop dysfunctional relationship dynamic is probably the best one to describe Godzilla and Kong,” Wingard said, citing Lethal Weapon as one of his favorite buddy-cop movies. “My influences are always embedded with the ‘80s, and the ‘80s were prime for [that] storyline.”
The current “Monsterverse” franchise began in 2014 with the Gareth Edwards-directed film Godzilla, which was then followed up by the Jordan Vogt-Roberts-helmed Kong: Skull Island in 2017.
The franchise also recently made a foray into television with the AppleTV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which starred the father-son duo of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen and will hit movie theaters on March 29.
